The Labor Department has recently adopted policies implementing the
previous amendment to the law authorizing the issuance of work permits with
a validity of two years.
In addition to extending the period of validity, the two-year work permit
also severs the connection between the holder's work permit and business
visa. This change eliminates the need to notify the Labor Department each
time the holder applies for a new business visa. The Labor Department will
continue to issue one-year work permits and these will still require the
holder to notify the Labor Department each time they obtain a new visa.
The Government Fee for the two-year work permit is Baht 6,000 and
applications are currently being accepted. For more information or to begin
the application process please contact one of our attorneys.
